Located in the heart of Windsor Ontario, Brentwood is a non-denominational recovery home that has served over 20,000 men and women primarily from Windsor and Essex County; however, clients come from all over Canada and the United States. The facility is set on nine acres with three main buildings and a pavilion. It is staffed by 65 employees including certified counsellors and a full medical staff. We tried to change but things did not work out or it did not happen or it was only our thinking and not our actions that changed. We stayed away from certain people, places, or certain situations. We had to change our behavior but any attempt to change on our own collapsed. Many of us stuffed our feelings down until we could not define them. There was anger, rage, guilt, hurt, sadness, and loneliness. If we do not get in touch with these feelings we are not going to change. We were empty shells of human beings capable of hurting the people that we love and say they love us. Change started with our feelings and most of us could not talk about our feelings because we did not know what they were and we did not know ourselves. What we say, feel, and do has to communicate the same thing. My commitment today is to see the need for spiritual change in my life. ...
